A flame retardant zipper has a special effect compared to a normal zipper, that is, it does not burn and retard flame in case of fire. The flame retardant zipper has excellent performance in terms of heat resistance, flame spread restriction, tensile strength, etc., and is an important component of a closed system for protecting clothes.

The structure of flame resistant zipper is similar to that of normal zipper, including tape, teeth, slider, puller, the top end, the bottom end and so on. 1．Teeth

2．Tape

Main development focus of metal flame retardant zipper is the flame resistance of tape. The flame retardant effect of tape can usually be achieved through the following two methods:

Add a certain proportion of flame retardant to raw materials which zipper tape is made from to achieve the flame resistant performance. The cost of this method is lower but the disadvantage is that it is possible to reduce zipper strength and tape color fastness.

Directly use fiber fabric with flames resistance to weave tape. Different from method 1, it may improve zipper performance like strength, but its cost is higher and some key manufacturing processes need to be improved.

Besides, special layer added to the surface of high quality zipper tape can help to improve the flames resistance as well.

3．Slider

Slider made of metal material is inherently flame-resistant. And electroplated slider is an ideal choice for flame resistant zipper.

In addition to flame resistance and strength, flame resistant zipper should also ensure that frequent washing and long-time placement will not affect its flame resistance performance.
